A Review by Sri C.R. Pattabhi Raman (Former Minister Govt. of India )

A Review by Sri C.R. Pattabhi Raman
(Former Minister Central Government)
Swami Sangam Ramachandra Rao (Amarakavi Ramachandra) has been writing on the discovery of the secrets of human life with particular reference to Nada Brahman in the realm of sound and speech.  As claimed by him “it is a survey of life” in the form of speech.  It is the result of many years of yogic practice and Sadhana.  He has fervently claimed that what he has written is according to the voice heard by him.  It has to be remembered that the revelation to him has been in his native language.  The Swami has endeavoured to translate it in English.  The sutra form of expression may make it difficult for many to understand aright the true meaning at first sight.
In Nija Ananda Bhodham which is a brief summary of his writings, we find a scientific approach to the life of human beings on earth, their breathing and speech and their thinking faculties.  The author deals with Brahma Vichara alongside of the description of the various chakras which have been described in Sri Vidya.  It is the aim of yogis to know the “Kosas” or sheaths covering a human being.  In this, book we find that there is a reference to a state of existence in space beyond gravitation.  When we read about the experience of our astronauts in space, these writings are revealing.
Swami Sangam Ramachandra Rao has made a deep study of the teachings and achievements of Siddhas and yogis.  They have been many, particularly in South India.  The Tamil saints like Appar, Sundarer, Manikavachagar and Sambhandar as also Tirumoolar, Bhogar, Arunagirirnadhar and Ramalinga Swami have all been Siddhas and sages.
We also find in this book an examination of working of the glands, particularly pituitary gland.  There are quite a few descriptions in the field of para-psychology.  Throughout the attempt is to guide human beings to know the God within themselves.  This work is suited to the modern minds which want to probe into mysteries of human life and I have no doubt that it will have a wide appeal.  I can visualize this treatise being read with interest in the western world where there is a really yearning to study the systems of yoga of our motherland and to know the mind of ancient India.
The Swami who is printing this book as a labour of love spending his own savings, wanted to distribute the volumes freely to sadhakas. However, on the advice of friends and well-wishers, he has agreed to price the book and use the income therefrom for charitable purpose.
The swami has had frequent interviews with His Holiness Jagadguru Sankaracharya Mahaswamigal of Kanchi Kamakoti Peetam and has had the benefit of his guidance and advice.  He was also in touch with the great Acharya of Sringeri Sarada Peetam His Holiness Jagadguru Chandraseakara Bharathi.  Dr. S. Radhakrishnan has gone through the writings of Swami Sangam Ramachandra Rao.  The Swami was not able to get the foreword written by the philosopher-statesman on account of the latter’s illness.
One perceives in this volume a dedicated mind consecrated to the revelation of truth revealed to it.  I am amazed at the industry with which the task has been undertaken.  I have no doubt that many a student of our culture and tradition will enjoy reading this book.
